Beginnings of My Internet Empire

I recently decided on what ways to make money online I was going to focus on. Basically niche sites and maybe some “bum marketing 3.0″. Heh.

I call it that because everyone had been saying it was dead. I don’t think it’s dead at all, you just have to do things a little differently since Google changed it’s algorithms. Not that big a deal.

So far I’ve made less than $100 so I’m definitely in the beginning stages.  So why did I pick niche sites and “bum marketing 3.0″?

1. Passive Income.  I have a lazy streak from time to time. Since I accept and love myself ;) … I know that this is inevitable. I would rather do the hard work and initial time investment, and then reap the benefits while I did minimal maintenance. This way, I could reap the benefits long term, while I sit around for weeks at time just answering comments, eating Smores,  and watching Anime and Fraggle Rock on Netflix lol.

2. It’s one of the easiest things that I feel comfortable doing. Some things are just a waste of time for where I am at. With either method, you kind a have a map. Or, I like to liken it to a recipe. The outcome only changes if you deviate from the recipe. Sometimes this is good and sometimes this is bad. :/ Most of the time, I like to do the exact recipe the first time I do it, then later I will deviate and test ingredients.

3. Later, I can flip the niche sites. I plan to build them up and then sell them as I see fit. I love the idea of a lump sum payday!

4. They’re  a little quicker in going. Authority blogs can take a long time (6 months +). So can product creation if you’re trying to do a high quality job. With niche sites and bum marketing things can happen fairly quickly ( a few weeks – 2 months). Which is far better to me than potentially a year.

Other than the niche sites I do have 3 “Authority Blogs” that I am wanting to building up. I have 3 loves, hence 3 blogs (this being one of them). Not everyone is going to be interested in my personal life, so I keep that all in one spot. People that are interested in my personal life may not be interested in making money online and so on… you get the point. That, and I have the option to really test tactics and strategies as I see fit.

In the future I would like to do the ebook thing. Production creation, etc. I do enjoy writing. It’s like once I start I can’t stop! I love the idea of people buying that work and enjoying it, being inspired by it, and then sharing it with others. Mmmmm Goosebumps.

Right now I’m up to 4 niche websites and 0 bum marketing campaigns. I wanted to get the niche sites up and running and bringing in traffic before I went that route. I would rather get the more difficult and time consuming projects out of the way first and then do the simpler stuff later, when it’s not so imperative that I not be lazy.

The Most Important Ingredient to A Successful Internet Business

I had an epiphany yesterday.  I was really not in the mood to do any more work as far my blogs go. I realized that I do that from time to time and lose momentum. I started asking myself, “Why do I do that? Why am I not motivated right now? Am I burnt out already? Am I just lazy” I figured it out, and this is where the most important ingredient to a successful internet business comes in… ambition.

the sky's the limit

To have ambition you have to have another key ingredient, self-esteem. If you don’t believe in yourself, then no one else will either. Looking back there were a few things I could see that caused me to actually believe that I was limited, not enough, insufficient, inexperienced, stupid, etc. It all stemmed from me taking stock in what others thought of me, NOT from any actual evidence.  The evidence will always shows that you can do anything you set your mind to do. That’s what it showed me.

So how does that pertain to internet business? It has to do with that old saying that “99% of people end up failing at making money online.” They lack the ambition and the self-esteem to really put for the effort and make it happen. There are plenty other causes of failing online but I think lack of ambition makes the top 5. It’s probably the only thing that could stop me at this point.

What I plan to do with this is simple. I’m gonna go for it. Do whatever it takes to make my online empire a success (within reason), look at failure as something to learn from, and move forward. Believing no matter what, and not matter what others think, I can do it. I am the hero and the underdog of my own life. I refuse to fail myself.

How are you fairing? What is ambition to you? How do you stay motivated and keep yourself going?

What the hell is up with that domain name? GooseNuggets.com?

Haha, glad you asked!

Well, I originally bought this domain back in 2008….

“And… you’re only doing something with it now???”

Yes, haha. I didn’t really know what I was doing back then, as far as starting a successful blog, making money online, or picking a domain name… obviously.

I think now though, in he grand scheme of things, it’s a kick-ass domain… It’s “unique”! I think it will be easy for people to remember and come back to. Its memorable.

Really I mean how can you forget “Goose Nuggets?”  Yeah, see, you can’t.

No, really though, I think I choose the name because, in my head I was thinking of a “gold goose egg.” Like, “gold nugget”. Hence, “Goose Nuggets”. After buying it, it realized it could mean a few things to any particular reader; goose poop, goose testicles, and maybe… gold goose egg. Hehe. In hindsight, it was such a newb thing to do.

Regardless, what’s done is done. What matters is what it means today. But, I leave it up to you what it means. The aim of the blog itself is to share my journey  and experiences with growing my internet lifestyle empire. I want to share it to inspire people, give direction and advise… and other little gold nuggets of success, and failures (goose poop - fertilizer for success).

Also, in general and on a personal note, I love Canadian Geese. When I see them fly across the sky in that “V” for “Victory” or “Vendetta”, depending on how I feel that day, It’s like a good luck charm. After I see that, or hear it, I have an awesome rest of my day.

All in all, I’m happy with the domain, it’s fabulous. I intend to do it justice. Victory!

SO, what came to your mind when you read the domain? Leave it in the comments below!
